On Sunday, 17 October 2021, the final rehearsal of Gioachino Rossini’s opera Le Siège de Corinthe (The Siege of Corinth) concluded with great success at the Olympia City Music Theatre “Maria Callas”.
This work, presented in its original French version for the first time in Greece, was enthusiastically received by the audience on the occasion of the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution.
Under the baton of George Petrou, a cast featuring prominent Greek and international opera soloists, the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, and the Choir of the Municipality of Athens, delivered a brilliant performance.
Seven contemporary artists, selected by the art historian and museologist, Dr. Katerina Koskina, created live under the guidance of esteemed director Rodoula Gaïtanou. Drawing inspiration from the music and themes of the work, the process of artistic creation was displayed in real-time during the performance, offering the audience an innovative and spectacular visual proposition.
