POLITES is a non-profit civil law corporation founded in 2019 in Athens, Greece by Aikaterini (Katerina) Koskina and Christoforos Boïcos. Its main scope is to promote Greek and international contemporary culture and art at a local, national and international level.
Following its mission POLITES seeks to:
Organize, co-organize and participate in artistic programs, exhibitions, lectures, conferences, seminars on contemporary culture and art, in relation to crucial social and humanitarian, intercultural, interdisciplinary contexts. Support and contribute to the production, organization, realization, and promotion of projects in public spaces, art commissions, and various events. Research and co-organize socially engaged projects with local communities, in person or by representatives of regional, municipal, community organizations and joint entities.
Facilitate and participate in research as well as offer consultation on individuals and groups related to cultural production, creative expression, contemporary culture and education. Provide communicational, organizational and financial support to other cultural institutions or organizations.
Organize or participate in national, European and international funded programs relating to contemporary art and culture. Join national and international networks of cultural institutions. Participate in other organizations, unions, corporations and entities which share the same scope or any other relevant actions or events.
Host or participate in educational projects in Greece and abroad, related to arts, culture and heritage eg. Conferences, seminars, workshops. Participate in research projects with other bodies or realize independent cultural projects. Cooperate with public and private educational and cultural entities in order to provide lifelong learning opportunities.
Contribute to the production, promotion and publication of printed materials, audio and audiovisual works, e-books, digital libraries/works, blogs, multimedia and digital works.
For the fulfillment of its scope, POLITES may:
Organize and operate programs in Greece and abroad. Rent, use real estate assets and facilitate all required premises and conditions for the operation of the aforementioned services and actions. Enter into work or employment agreements with collaborating artists, scientists, curators, technicians and other specialists and experts. Cooperate and enter into agreements with Greek and international entities, scientific institutions, cultural and non-profit foundations etc. Organize research programs towards cultural development. Draft and submit proposals and reports to the specified ministries, the European Union and other national and international organizations in order to fulfil the Corporation’s scope. Secure financial resources for the fulfilment of the Corporation’s scope through sponsorships, funding schemes and donations. Organize exhibitions, informative events and screenings and take all appropriate measures for the promotion of the Corporation’s scope under any online and digital means.
POLITES provides consulting services to EATA (Develop Athens) of the Municipality of Athens, while Aikaterini (Katerina) Koskina is the Advisor to the Mayor on Culture. The corporation has recently applied together with other Public and Private Institutions and Associations for four funding schemes in Europe (European Commission, Erasmus+ and Italian Council, among others) as it collaborates in the development of international cultural projects. Moreover, POLITES is participating in a major contemporary International Art Exhibition in Hainan, China where Greece has been selected to participate as the Guest Country.
From 2022 to 2024, in parallel with POLITES, the company SYNERGON was also active in the same field. SYNERGON completed its activity in 2025.
